Der Galeristenverband Art Palma Contemporani läutet am Donnerstag den Art Palma Summer ein. Mit dabei sind auch diese beiden Deutschen
Ein Abend voller Kunst: Die Eröffnung des Art Palma Summer ist an diesem Donnerstag eine gute Gelegenheit, sich der Galerien-Szene der Insel zu nähern. Von 18 bis 22 Uhr öffnen fast 30 Ausstellungsorte ihre Türen für Besucher.
Mehr als 100 Künstlerinnen und Künstler laden mit ihren Werke zu einem Rundgang durch die zeitgenössische Kunstszene mit internationalem Anspruch. Neben Palma sind auch Galerien in Andratx, Pollença und Santa-nyi beteiligt, außerdem auch Hauser & Wirth auf der Illa del Rei vor Menorca. Viele der Ausstellungen bleiben danach den ganzen Sommer über zugänglich. Die vom Galeristen-verband Art Palma Contemporani (APC) auf die Beine gestellte Veranstaltung ist das Sommerfeuerwerk der Kunstszene zwischen dem Art Palma Brunch im Frühjahr und der Nit de l’Art Ende September. Der Eintritt ist frei und richtet sich ausdrücklich nicht nur an Sammler und Fachpublikum, sondern an alle Kunstinteressierten.
Erstmals dabei ist dieses Jahr neben der Galerie Kant auch Anja Maria Wolf mit ihrer a66Gallery in Santanyi. Die gebürtige Dortmunderin eröffnete ihre neue Ausstellung „Fragile Harmony” mit Werken der Südkorea-ner Hyeon O und Jaewon Kim bereits als Pre-view am Mittwoch (3.6.) – dem traditionellen Markttag des Ortes. Am Donnerstag selbst bleibt ihre Galerie geschlossen, genauso wie am Freitag, weil sie dann selbst in Palma auf Ausstellungen unterwegs ist. Am Samstag (6.6.) können Interessierte von 10 bis 14 Uhr in der Galerie vorbeikommen. Am Sonntag (7.6.) gibt es dann eine vom Galeristenverband organisierte Führung durch die Ausstellungen in der Casa de Cultura Ses Cases Noves in Santa-nyi und im Anschluss durch die a66Gallery, wo auch der aus Seoul stammende und jetzt in Hamburg lebende Künstler Jaewon Kim anwesend sein wird. Obwohl die Kunstberaterin Wolfihre Galerie erst im April 2024 in einem alten Bauernhaus im Carrer de Cas Majoral, 8, in Santanyi eröffnete, ist sie schon in Mallorcas Kunstszene etabliert und mittlerweile selbst Teil des Gale-ristenverbandes Art Palma Contemporani (APC). „Nationalität spielt dabei aus meiner Sicht keine entscheidende Rolle. Der Verband vereint sehr unterschiedliche Galerien – etablierte und jüngere, mit verschiedenen Programmen und Hintergründen. Was uns verbindet, ist unsere gemeinsame Auffassung von zeitgenössischer Kunst”, sagt Wolf. Sie habe von Anfang an das Gefühl gehabt, dass sie mit dem APC ähnliche Werte teile: „Mich interessiert Kunst nicht als Dekoration, Lifestyle oder Teil einer schönen Inszenierung. sondern als ernsthafte künstlerische Praxis, einer klaren Haltung und einer nachvollziehbaren Entwicklung der Künstler.” Sie fördere viele junge Talente und fühle sich manchmal fast ein wenig wie deren künstlerische Mutter.
In der Ausstellung Fragile Harmony habe sie die beiden südkoreanischen Künstler zusammengeführt, „weil sie in ihren Arbeiten im Grunde von der gleichen Sache sprechen”.
Hyeon O erlebe die heutige Welt von außen nach innen und zeige ihre inneren Zustände, ihre Angste und Reaktionen auf die immer schneller werdende und immer mehr Leistung fordernde Gesellschaft. Während Jaewon genau umgekehrt arbeite und die Außenwelt beobachte. Sein Thema in der Ausstellung ist das Bienensterben. Mehr dazu unter: www.a66gallery.com
Die Galerie Aba Art in Palma eröffnet zum Art Palma Summer indes am Donnerstag von 18 bis 22 Uhr im Project Room 41 die Ausstellung „Nothingness” der deutschen Künstlerin Anke Blaue. Die im norddeutschen Schleswig geborene Blaue setzt sich in ihren Werken mit Stille, Reduktion und den verwendeten Materialien auseinander. Im Zentrum ihrer Arbeiten steht häufig altes Leinen, das nicht nurals Bildträger dient, sondern selbst zum wesentlichen Bestandteil des Kunstwerks wird: Farbe, Textur, Licht und feine lineare Strukturen treten dabei in einen Dialog. Anke Blaues Kunst wirkt minimalistisch, konzentriert und kon-templativ. In ihrer Ausstellung in der an der Porta de Santa Catalina, 21B, gelegenen Kunstgalerie lädt sie den Betrachter dazu ein, langsamer zu sehen und in der scheinbaren Leere eine besondere Tiefe zu entdecken. An Evening of Art: Art Palma Summer Opens This Thursday. The opening of Art Palma Summer this Thursday offers an excellent opportunity to discover the island’s vibrant gallery scene. From 6 pm to 10 pm, almost 30 exhibition venues will open their doors to visitors.
More than 100 artists invite the public to explore works that reflect an internationally oriented contemporary art scene. In addition to Palma, galleries in Andratx, Pollença and Santanyí are participating, as well as Hauser & Wirth on Illa del Rei off Menorca. Many of the exhibitions will remain open throughout the summer.
Organised by the gallery association Art Palma Contemporani (APC), the event serves as the summer highlight of the island’s art calendar, bridging the Art Palma Brunch in spring and the Nit de l’Art at the end of September. Admission is free and the event is aimed not only at collectors and art professionals but at anyone interested in contemporary art.
This year, alongside Galería K, Anja Maria Wolf and her a66Gallery in Santanyí are participating for the first time. The Dortmund-born gallery owner already launched her new exhibition, Fragile Harmony, featuring works by South Korean artists Hyeon O and Jaewon Kim, with a preview on Wednesday, 3 June, the town’s traditional market day.
The gallery will remain closed on Thursday and Friday, as Wolf herself will be visiting exhibitions in Palma. On Saturday, 6 June, visitors can attend the gallery from 10 am to 2 pm. On Sunday, 7 June, the gallery association will organise a guided tour of the exhibitions at Casa de Cultura Ses Cases Noves in Santanyí, followed by a visit to a66Gallery, where Seoul-born artist Jaewon Kim, now based in Hamburg, will be present. Registration is free via Eventbrite.
Although Wolf only opened her gallery in April 2024 in a restored farmhouse on Carrer de Cas Majoral in Santanyí, she has already established herself within Mallorca’s art scene and is now a member of Art Palma Contemporani.
“Nationality does not play a decisive role from my perspective. The association brings together very different galleries—established and emerging ones alike, with diverse programmes and backgrounds. What unites us is our shared understanding of contemporary art,” says Wolf.
“From the very beginning, I felt that APC and I shared similar values. I am interested in art not as decoration, lifestyle, or part of a beautiful staging, but as a serious artistic practice, with a clear position and a coherent artistic development.”
She supports many young talents and sometimes feels almost like an artistic mother to them.
In Fragile Harmony, she brought together the two South Korean artists “because, fundamentally, they are talking about the same thing in their work.”
Hyeon O approaches today’s world from the inside out, expressing her inner states, fears and reactions to an increasingly fast-paced, performance-driven society. Jaewon Kim works in the opposite direction, observing the external world. His contribution to the exhibition focuses on the decline of bee populations.
Meanwhile, Palma’s Aba Art Gallery will present Nothingness by German artist Anke Blaue in Project Room 41 during Art Palma Summer on Thursday from 6 pm to 10 pm.
Born in Schleswig in northern Germany, Blaue explores silence, reduction and materiality in her work. At the centre of many of her pieces is antique linen, which serves not only as a support but becomes an essential part of the artwork itself. Colour, texture, light and delicate linear structures enter into dialogue with one another.
Her art is minimalist, concentrated and contemplative. In her exhibition at the gallery on Porta de Santa Catalina, visitors are invited to slow down their gaze and discover a particular depth within apparent emptiness.
